National Parks: Tales and Trails

California has more national parks than any other state—from Yosemite’s heights to Death Valley’s depths. I’ll take you beyond the familiar to quieter corners, uncrowded trails, and stories that run deep.

California holds a rare concentration of grand landscapes—high peaks, deep canyons, vast deserts, long seashores, and forests of towering trees—all within a single state. Its national parks and preserves reflect that breadth, from the iconic sweep of Yosemite and the stark expanse of Death Valley to the quiet reaches of Point Reyes and the Mojave.

You’ll find the giants here—Yosemite, Sequoia, Joshua Tree—but also places where the crowds thin and the stories deepen: along a fogbound coast, across a volcanic plateau, out to an island shaped by wind and sea. These are landscapes that invite both awe and exploration—and the trails that lead into them tell the full story.
